Leigh Lomax,
President
Leigh Lomax began teaching in Florida in 1998. Since 2000, she has taught middle and high school English, reading, writing, ESOL, and ABE/ GED within the School District of Hillsborough County. Additionally, she has served on the Hillsborough district scoring committee, scored for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and lead writing leadership efforts at middle and high school levels. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Corporate Communications from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee, and a Master’s Degree in Business Management from Troy University in Alabama. She is now a professional consultant, helping schools to not only improve their students’ reading and writing skills but also to help them develop ways to manage mandated benchmarks.
In 2004, Mrs. Lomax founded Operation Empowerment, Inc. Operation Empowerment is a Florida nonprofit organization and is fully recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3). Its mission is educational research and outreach. Through Operation Empowerment, Inc., Mrs. Lomax developed ACROWRITES and continues to research and develop contemporary and alternative educational programs to help students improve their reading and writing skills, and their FCAT scores. In addition to leading Operation Empowerment, she is currently President and Program Director for Lomax and Lomax Investments and Consulting, a Florida S-Corp., located in Brandon, Florida. Mrs. Lomax believes that all students can achieve the mandated results in reading and writing, but not all students learn the same way. This is why her approach to the research and development of educational programming is highly successful. She designs and develops educational materials to reach students with both creative and analytical learning abilities.
In addition to her research and development within the classroom, Mrs. Lomax is currently working on virtual programming with goals of bringing virtual educational programs to schools as early as 2012. Schools interested in participating in our educational research programs are encouraged to apply.
